How should a shirt fit on the shoulders. Personally, i like shirts that are longer, that cover my bum, and that don’t have fabric on the sides. If it goes all the way to the bottom of your fly, it’s too long and will make you look shorter. Under no circumstances should the shoulder seam be significantly over the shoulder bone or on the upper arm.

This is very common for tall, thinner men who trade fit in the shoulders and chest for the extra length afforded in larger conventional sizes.
It’s hard to adjust these points, so don’t bother having it tailored. There is often an independent piece of fabric that stretches the width of your back across the shoulder blades called the yoke. If they are on your arm, it is too big.
